A new take on an Armenian tradition.

At Balakian Farms, our products are made in small batches. We create our Organic Blended Heirloom Tomatoes using an Armenian, family recipe passed down through generations.

We're Balakian Farms

As a fourth-generation farmer, I set out to create small-batch healthy and tasty products with my family’s organic produce. I want to honor the past and celebrate the future by using my grandma Stella’s Armenian recipes passed down through generations. Each blend has a unique flavor, and can be used ounce-for-ounce in any recipe that calls for fresh or canned tomatoes. It’s like a ripe & juicy heirloom tomato in a jar. Balakian Farms is not only an occupation, but also a way of life.

Seeds for what became Orange Strawberry were sent to Carolyn Male by Marjorie Morris of Indiana, who discovered it as a stray seed in a pack of commercial Pineapple seeds. She named it based on the fruit's shape and color. Beautiful strawberry-shaped, bright-orange oxheart tomatoes, that form to a distinct tip. The gorgeous, meaty fruit with few seeds has a sweet, rich, complex taste unlike most yellow and orange tomatoes.
